The Left Behind
Acrylic and oil on newspaper depicting a scene from Brixton during London riots. Sparked by the injustice of systemic racism in British society. The title indicates the disenfranchised from inequity and inequality.
A commentary on reality brought to life through mixed media paintings
Experience the incredible depth of urban scenes where atmosphere and life are portrayed in layers to suggest structure and distance. Rural scenes tend towards a sparse depiction. Distance forms a dominant theme in many of them, which is more deliberately trying to capture a sense of time and timelessness - a space-time continuum. Hedley predominantly uses a layered technique of acrylics, oil, commercial paint, often on top of newspaper for urban environments.
